Fun history workshops

See the details of all the fun history workshops that the Militias of Anglia can put on for your event. To enquire, contact us directly. We are able to tour all over the UK.

Our Entertainment Services

Enjoy a traditional 17th-century feast bought to the location of your choice hosted by staff in period correct costume, cooked by knowledgeable and experienced chefs we can produce up to 22 dishes. Learn about the food options, the role of the host, proper table settings, service protocols and traditional customs. By the end, you’ll be able to put on your very own banquet.
To accompany your feast, why not enjoy ales and other alocholic and non alcholic refreshements of the era. As well as the capability to feed you the Militias of Anglia beer tent which is available to hire for your event large or small, carrying a vast of wide range products, not usually found anywhere else. Available as bolt-on option without obligation.
Archery was used for hunting and warfare but it was also a popular recreational activity as well. Our workshop covers the historical significance of the skill as well as proper archery techniques, including stance, aiming and release. You’ll have the opportunity to test your skills as well. For your safety and that of other guests, strict safety measures will be in place.

The axe was one of the weapons used in the 17th-century and they were often carried by both soldiers and civilians. Our workshop will teach you the proper axe throwing technique, including aiming and throwing. For your safety and that of other guests, strict safety measures will be in place.

Working with HEMA qualified instructors The Militias of Anglia are able to bring to you sword skilled classes from the very beginnings of the ‘art of dance’ to competition level. Whether you need to learn some sword handling skills for entertainment or film work or for serious competition, our instructors are able to teach pole arms techniques in addition to sword.
We are being approached by film makers and TV programme producers to provide extras for filming.
We can act as a conduit for these opportunities.

And that’s not all …

Whilst we cover the 17th-century we can also offer alternative timelines. How about the Romans? The Saxons? The Tudors? Perhaps the Napoleonic or Edwardian era? We can tailor the reenactment accordingly. Our rates are competitive too and if you’d like to collaborate with other schools or organisations and deliver a shared experience, we’re happy to oblige. It often helps with budgets at the same time. The key members are enhanced DBS-checked and the remaining of our staff in the majority are DBS certificated and we have got full insurance cover in place too. We endeavor to ensure that all health and safety protocols are in place, including risk and method assessments.
